Poll: What aircraft would most likely win in a dogfight? The British Spitfire or the American Hellcat?

As both the aircraft were designed to operate in different environments a straight comparison cannot be made. In defencive dogfights the Spit was the best, but to be fair the best single engine/single seater was the P51D Mustang
