What is with the American vs. French thing?

The French see themselves as more elegant while they think MOST americans are fat nasty arrogant slobs who get into everyones business. Believe it or not i actually described americans nicely. Plus theres the fact that Americans feel that the French owe them for saving them in both of the World Wars. Although i have to say the French saved the Americans in the American Revoulution and some other war that i cant remember so its actually pretty even
