1963 Spitfire 1500 engine swap?

I may be getting my hands on a 1963 spitfire 1500 soon, however my dad, the previous owner of it when it was operable, states that the engine threw a rod and the block was basically toasted. My question is, I may know someone who just totaled their 2005 Honda Integra (rear-ended) which had a Honda K20a motor in it and a manual transmission, is it possible to turn a 1963 Spitfire in a mid-engine car? What modifications would I need to perform if I were to do so? My email is dbucknell@ucmerced.edu as well.
